Here's What You Need to Know about Indian Street Food
As an Indian, street food is a staple component of my diet. Most locals will tell you that the best places to go for authentic flavours are the tattered kerbside shacks. Foreigners tend to fear them, as they’re mostly concerned about hygiene and any ingredient that might seem unusual. I’m here to reassure the world that street food is perfectly safe. That is, if you go to the right places.
From my own experience, I find street food to be fresher than the food in regular sit-down eateries. I like to believe that the limited ingredients make it almost healthier as well. When it comes to hygiene, Indians are incredibly conscious about cleanliness (contrary to popular belief). Rest assured, you won't be getting food poisoning. And if you do, it’s probably worth it.
